INTERNATIONAL DAY OF FAMILIES 2026

THEME: "FAMILIES, INEQUALITIES AND CHILD WELLBEING"

In commemoration of the International Day of Families, Ray's Haven for the Special Needs Children & Adults launched a special documentary and storytelling project focused on highlighting the realities, resilience, love, and experiences of families raising children and individuals with disabilities and special needs.

The project was inspired by the 2026 International Day of Families theme: "Families, Inequalities and Child Wellbeing," which emphasizes the importance of family-centered support systems, inclusion, and equal opportunities for every child regardless of ability or circumstance.

As part of the commemoration, Ray's Haven also organized an awareness webinar centered on conversations around family support, inclusion, disability advocacy, child wellbeing, and the importance of creating more inclusive communities for children and adults with special needs.

Through home visits, interviews, conversations, and documentary storytelling, our team engaged with different families to listen to their journeys, understand their challenges, celebrate their strengths, and amplify their voices.

WHAT THIS PROJECT AIMED TO DO

This project aimed to:

• Promote awareness and understanding around disability and family life
• Encourage empathy, inclusion, and community support
• Highlight the emotional, social, and economic realities many families face
• Celebrate resilience, love, caregiving, and hope
• Advocate for a more inclusive society where persons with disabilities are respected, valued, and supported

At Ray's Haven, we believe that inclusion begins within families and communities. By sharing these stories, we hope to inspire conversations, challenge stigma, and remind society that every family deserves support, dignity, and belonging.

"Below are moments captured from the project through photographs, interviews, webinar sessions, and documentary recordings."
