UNLOCKING POTENTIAL THROUGH SKILLS AND INCLUSION
The First Community Workshop of the Youth Resilience Project
The Youth Resilience Project (YRP) recently hosted its inaugural community workshop at the Kaduna State Disability Affairs Board headquarters. This landmark event was a vital step in our mission to empower marginalized youth, with a specific focus on Digital Pathways and Soft Skills Development for Persons with Disabilities (PWDs).
Over the course of the session, participants delved into key areas of personal and professional development. They learned about the importance of effective communication, time management, leadership, and problem-solving. These are not just theoretical concepts; they are practical tools designed to boost confidence and open new avenues for economic empowerment and personal growth. This session marked a major step in equipping our Community Champions from the disability community. By providing them with these practical skills, we are enabling them to drive meaningful inclusion and lead resilience-building initiatives in their own communities across Kaduna State.
EMPOWERING CHANGE-MAKERS, ONE SKILL AT A TIME.
Our official video provides a glimpse into the vibrant energy of the workshop. Watch as we work directly with PWD representatives to strengthen their digital and soft skills, boost their confidence, and prepare them to take the lead in addressing the critical economic and mental health challenges facing their communities.
Participant Voices
“This workshop gave me the tools to not only improve myself but also to help others in my community. It's more than just skills—it's about confidence.”
— A YRP Community Champion
BREAKING BARRIERS, BUILDING OPPORTUNITIES.
The success of this workshop was echoed by local media, with extensive coverage from KSMC TV and Radio. This media attention is vital, as it highlights how the YRP is empowering young people with disabilities to become visible leaders in their communities. Their stories are now reaching a wider audience, driving conversations on mental health, inclusion, and economic opportunity that are critical for long-term change.
